Project Overview

RDA Landscape Architecture was engaged to develop the comprehensive Site Master Plan and provide detailed design for the outdoor amenity environments at Avalon Great Neck, a premier waterfront residential community overlooking Manhasset Bay.

From the outset, the vision was clear: create a landscape that balances coastal character with contemporary luxury—an amenity-rich environment that feels immersive, curated, and distinctly rooted in its waterfront setting. Inspired by the layered spatial experiences of Brooklyn Bridge Park, the design integrates open lawns, elevated terraces, framed views, and intimate gathering spaces that unfold toward the water.

Design Highlights

Infinity-Edge Pool & Pool Terrace
A dramatic infinity-edge pool anchors the amenity core, visually extending toward Manhasset Bay. The surrounding terrace blends lounging zones, structured planting, and contemporary detailing to create a refined resort atmosphere.

Outdoor Kitchen & Social Lounges
Integrated grilling stations, fire features, and shaded seating areas encourage year-round social engagement and provide flexible gathering spaces for residents.

Green Roof & Rooftop Terrace
Elevated landscapes expand usable open space while contributing to stormwater management and thermal performance. Plant selections emphasize durability, seasonal interest, and low-maintenance coastal resilience.

Waterside Overlook Deck
A signature overlook deck frames panoramic bay views, reinforcing the community’s relationship to the shoreline and creating a memorable destination within the property.

Dog Walk Areas & Permeable Paver Circulation
Dedicated pet zones and permeable paver walkways and fire lanes enhance functionality while supporting sustainable site design principles.
